About OpenCycleMap. OpenCycleMap is a global map for cyclists, based on data from the OpenStreetMap project. OpenCycleMap was started in 2007 by Andy Allan and Dave Stubbs, who were mapping south west London by bike and who wanted a visualisation of the bike routes they were mapping for OSM. Over the years the coverage and scope of both OpenStreetMap and OpenCycleMap have expanded beyond all.

App fine when it works support not so much Despite several attempts to refresh my subscription and requests for support, the app is displaying ads and refusing to display elevation profiles. I've used it successfully for turn by turn audible directions a few months ago.. Requires iOS 7.0 or later. Compatible with iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch.

What I don’t know is how do I get my app to interface with opencyclemap so that the user can see where they are with the GPS. What would be the easiest or most appropriate way to achieve this. I don’t mind if the user is directed out of my app to the open cycle map page. If they could stay within the app this would be good.

Thank you for your answer. Maybe I haven't been clear enough, but when I use the internet navigator (Safari in my case) I can choose OpenCycleMap as maps system (instead of Google ones). In the iOS iPhone app I have Google Maps as default, but cannot find how change to OpenCycleMap, which in my case are much more precise and comprehensive.

I find the MotionX GPS app very good. It displays OpenStreetMap and OpenCycleMap data and allows large areas of the map to be pre-loaded onto the phone, so you don't need a network signal when you are out on the hills. It also does nice track recording, so you can import your GPS track back into OSM :)

Prior to iOS 7, it was also possible to use different map tiles than those that MapKit provides, but it required fairly large amount of code and work. Luckily, the map kit team introduced a really simple way to do this in iOS 7: new classes MKTileOverlay and MKTileOverlayRenderer.
