Abc App Roku Narration

abc app roku narration

Now I recently have hooked up the roku streaming and this is when it has all started. At first it was the audio guide, which I know how to turn that off. But this is a narrative of the show, called SAP feature, that on my roku, I cannot find a menu item that deals with turning off the narration for the blind.

After chatting with Roku support and ABC support. I have been informed that there is a known issue with ABC's Roku App. ABC said they are working on a fix as it is only happening with Roku. Big thanks to Jessie at Roku Support, sorry for being a jerk.

"Audio description" (also referred to as "video description") is the insertion of audio-narrated descriptions of a television program's key visual elements into natural pauses in the program's dialogue, making video programming more accessible to individuals who are blind or visually impaired.

The last 2 days, my ABC app on my roku tv has been stuck in narrative description for any show I try to watch! I've tried restarting the tv, restarting the app....it's only on the ABC app. Anyone? comment. share. save hide report. 100% Upvoted. Log in or sign up to leave a comment log in sign up. Sort by.

If you are having the same issue despite turning accessibility off on the tv, app, etc. here’s a workaround for now! How to Turn Audio Descriptions Off on Roku for Disney+ If you’ve checked all your accessibility settings on the Roku (by pushing the star button while in Disney+ watching a movie/show) and you’re still getting audio.

Audio Description provides narration of important visual elements during a TV program, allowing people with impaired vision to experience the TV program. The ABC has commenced a trial of Audio Description, ahead of a launch in late June 2020, to help people with impaired vision or those who otherwise need help to understand what is being shown.

Audio Guide is available on all Roku TV™ models in the US as well as select Roku streaming players including Roku Ultra (4640X), Roku Premiere+ (4630X), Roku Premiere (4620X), Roku Express+ (3710X), Roku Express (3700X), and Roku® Streaming Stick® (3600X). To enable Audio Guide, your Roku device must be updated to Roku OS 7.5.

Roku recently added an option for the visually impaired that has the Roku read what is happening on screen. This allows the visually impaired to use their Rokus just like anyone can. Recently it seems many Roku users are accidentally turning it on and are not sure how to turn it off. (It even happened […]

Edit: And just like that, YTTV and Disney+ started working again on both affected devices. No update to the Roku OS, no app updates, but both apps just started working. I was finally getting around to resetting the hardware, first on the Element Roku TV and then I checked the Roku 4. No problems on either device. Strange.

I’m playing video from the ABC plugin on the computer… not Roku, not Chromecast, just the Plex browser in Chrome. I see no options to change or disable the “Audio eyes” audio. system closed December 20, 2019, 11:28pm #6. This topic was automatically closed 90 days after the last reply..

Shows on ABC, like Modern Family and Don't Trust the B, have this horribly annoying narration right now describing physical actions and scene changes on the show. It's completely distracting from the dialogue and I can't stand it. Any idea what is going on and how I can block it??? If not, I'm just canceling the DVR and hoping I can view the episodes online without this crap.
